When a Terrorist is isn’t a Terrorist

The FBI arrested a New York man on a charge of attempting to support ISIS/ISIL. Arafat Nagi is also charged with attempting trying to join the group after traveling to Turkey on two separate occasions.

Prior to that arrest, the FBI busted a Florida man for plotting to set off a backpack bomb at a beach, inspired by ISIS/ISIL. Harlem Suarez’s arrest came after he received what he thought was a working bomb but which was actually a phony device provided by federal agents.

It took the FBI very little time to connect either man to ISIS. Yet, a man named Muhammad opens fired on a military recruiting center, and then a naval reserve center, killing four U.S. Marines and a U.S. Navy sailor and no connection to radical Islam is ‘found?’

Don’t you believe it!

It’s known that the killer Muhammad was studying the online writings of a now dead American-born cleric and leading member of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, who played an important role in encouraging and inspiring attacks inside the U.S. It’s even known that the killer Muhammad started a blog of his own, though it has only two posts.

The first refers to a test designed to, “separate the inhabitants of Paradise from the inhabitants of Hellfire.” In his second post, he claims his fellow Muslims have a “certain understanding of Islam and keep a tunnel vision of what we think Islam is.”

“We ask Allah … to give us a complete understanding of the message of Islam, and the strength the (sic) live by this knowledge, and to know what role we need to play to establish Islam in the world,” the killer Muhammad writes.

It’s even more surreal that the killer Muhammad spent seven-month in Jordan, which has seen the spread of radical Islamic ideas following the 2011 Arab Spring uprisings. And while staying in Jordan, Muhammad lived with his uncle, who’s linked to the Muslim Brotherhood.

The killer Muhammad also attended the Islamic Society of Greater Chattanooga, which is operates with the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), which is an unindicted co-conspirator in the U.S. v. Holy Land Foundation case. NAIT is also operates the mosques attended by the Boston marathon bombers, some of the 9/11 hijackers and the two Phoenix, Arizona men who attacked the ‘Draw Muhammad’ event in Texas.

Maybe Obama’s FBI wants us to believe the killer Muhammad’s actions are yet another case of a Southern-Confederate-flag-waving-gun-toting-racist on a murderous rampage.

Progressives put up Planned Parenthood Smoke Screen

An anti-abortion group reportedly hacked Planned Parenthood, the women’s health organization that has been under scrutiny for recently released videos showing officials from the group casually discussing the sale of aborted fetal tissue. The hackers reportedly obtained data such as employees’ email addresses.

Dawn Laguens, executive vice president and chief experience officer of Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) said they were investigating the breach.

“Extremists have broken laws, harassed our doctors and patients, produced hack videos, and now are claiming to have committed a gross invasion of privacy — one that, if true, could potentially put our staff members at risk,” she said.

But this is a smoke screen — after all, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said last week that the videos “raise questions,” while he largely defended the organization.

“These politically motivated videos raises questions, but nothing I’ve seen indicates that Planned Parenthood violated federal law,” Reid said.

Yet in a third video, recently leased by the Center for Medical Progress, undercover footage catches the Vice President and Medical Director of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) in Denver, Colorado, Dr. Savita Ginde, commenting, “I think a per-item thing works a little better, just because we can see how much we can get out of it.”

Interestingly enough, PPRM is one of the largest and wealthiest Planned Parenthood affiliates operating in Nevada, Reid’s home state. In March of 2015, they issued a press release on their website thanking Reid.

“Nevada women and families are healthier and have better access to the care they need and deserve because of Senator Reid’s leadership,” said Vicki Cowart, president and CEO of PPRM.

In the same release, Cecile Richards, PPFA president states, “Thanks to Senator Reid’s leadership, women across the country have access to no-copay birth control, better access to affordable, high-quality health care, and the many other benefits of the Affordable Care Act.”

However, in the same newly released video, a technician who worked for a company that partnered with Planned Parenthood to harvest baby parts said there’s “incentive to try and get the hard stuff ‘cause you’re going to get more money.”

“For whatever we could procure, they would get a certain percentage,” said Holly O’Donnell, identified as a former procurement technician for Placerville, California’s StemExpress, “The main nurse was always trying to make sure we got our specimens. No one else really cared, but the main nurse did because she knew that Planned Parenthood was getting compensated.”

Meanwhile Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed through a measure that will fund Planned Parenthood in its entirety. Over the last 10 years, Planned Parenthood has gotten more than $4 billion in state and federal government aid.

As the website, ‘Red State,’ rightfully points out: “The GOP is not on our side.”

Progressive Republicans Attack Ted Cruz

Texas senator and presidential candidate Ted Cruz accused Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of being a liar, saying Republicans in charge of both houses of Congress haven’t changed things “one iota” because both parties serve the “Washington cartel.” Cruz made his speech after McConnell added the re-authorization of the Export-Import Bank to the highway-funding bill, then prevented senators from adding more amendments.

The Export-Import Bank’s charter expired June 30 when Congress refused to renew it. Opponents say it’s a major corporate welfare snow-job, with nearly 90 percent of the bank’s funding going to Boeing, General Electric and Caterpillar.

Cruz said that his vote for trade promotion authority, also known as fast track, was cast on the basis that McConnell assured him there was not a deal made with the Democrats to support the controversial Export-Import bank. Cruz said he asked McConnell the question during a private Senate Republican lunch.

“I stood up and I asked the majority leader very directly, what was the deal that was just cut on TPA (Trade Promotion Authority) and was there a deal for the Export-Import Bank? It was a direct question. I asked the majority leader in front of all the Republican senators. The majority leader was visibly angry with me that I would ask such a question, and the majority leader looked at me and said, ‘There is no deal, there is no deal, there is no deal,’” Cruz said. “Like St. Peter he repeated it three times.”

Besides pointing out McConnell’s lie, Cruz accused McConnell of operating as a “team” with Minority Leader Senator Harry Reid who also blocked debate: “Now the Republican leader is behaving like the senior senator from Nevada.”

He added that since Republicans have controlled both houses of Congress, they have passed the Obama-supported “cromnibus” bill, funded Obamacare, funded his executive immigration actions and approved Loretta Lynch as attorney general.

Senator Orrin Hatch defended McConnell, claiming Cruz’s speech was out of line: “Squabbling and sanctimony may be tolerated in other venues and perhaps on the campaign trail, but they have no place among colleagues in the United States Senate.”

Hatch’s reading of Senate Rule 19:2 — “No Senator in debate shall, directly or indirectly, by any form of words impute to another Senator or to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator,” — was a warning to Cruz.

Cruz fought back against charges saying, “It is entirely consistent with decorum and with the nature of this body traditionally as the world’s greatest deliberative body to speak the truth.”

In the end. all Hatch did is prove Cruz’s point about the “Washington cartel.”

U.S. Citizenship is Now Negotiable

In yet another step towards “fundamental transformation,” President Obama’s given an exemption to any newly naturalized citizen, who takes the oath of allegiance, to omit the lines requiring them to bear arms, or do non-combat duties, on behalf of the U.S. when required by law, based on religious belief or conscientious objection. Furthermore, objectors don’t have to be a member of any church or organization or provide any proof or attestation of these beliefs qualify for exemption.

In April, the Task Force on New Americans submitted a plan to Obama that identified ways to weave naturalized Americans into their communities, such as encouraging new Americans to take part in volunteer work.

The principles embodied in the Oath are in Section 337(a) in the Immigration and Nationality Act, which provides that all applicants shall take an oath that incorporates the substance of the following:

Support the Constitution; Renounce all allegiance to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty of whom or which the applicant was before a subject or citizen; Support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Furthermore it requires the person taking the oath bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; or do non-combatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; or do work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law.

Unfortunately, starting July 21, 2015, new guidance (PA-2015-001) in the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Policy Manual clarifies the eligibility requirements for changes to the Oath of Allegiance: “Candidates for citizenship normally declare that they will “bear arms on behalf of the United States” and “perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States” when required by the law.”

“A candidate may be eligible to exclude these two clauses based on religious training and belief or a conscientious objection,” it continues. “The new guidance clarifies that a candidate: May be eligible for modifications based on religious training and belief, or conscientious objection arising from a deeply held moral or ethical code.”

“Is not required to belong to a specific church or religion, follow a particular theology or belief, or to have had religious training in order to qualify,” the new guidance policy declares, adding, “May submit, but is not required to provide, an attestation from a religious or other type of organization, as well as other evidence to establish eligibility.”

Newly naturalized citizen are still required to affirm, “so help me God,” – at least for now.

Addressing Reno’s U.S. Flag Problem

After writing a fairly scathing commentary on the fact that the City of Reno had a the Gay Pride flag flying over city hall instead of the American Flag, I reached out to Mayor Hillary Schieve with the hope of finding some answers about why this would have happened in the first place. What following is our brief Facebook ‘conversation:’

Dear Ms. Schieve:
If you didn’t authorize the American flag’s removal and replacement of the Gay Pride flag, and if the city council had nothing to do with it, who did and are they going to be disciplined?
Respectfully,
Tom Darby

Hi Tom.
The buck stops with me and I am taking full responsibility since I represent the city. All too often politicians do not apologize and point fingers. I can assure you this will never happen again and sincerely feel horrible about any disrespect. This should have never happened and it is truly offensive.
Again I apologize and have addressed it with city staff on the matter. I just can’t say sorry enough.
Thank you again for being incredibly respectful in a situation where I would understand if you were not!! Hope you have a much better day than I am having!!
Happiness & good health to you and yours!!
Hillary

Thank you very much for addressing this matter to me. I know you didn’t have to, so I appreciate your taking time to let me know what is happening. Stay well.

I am enforcing very strict flag policies at the city and they will take effect immediately. Just can’t tolerate something like this ever again. Take care and thank you Tom!

At this point I’m satisfied that the problem has been taken care of, but I’d still like to know who did it and what sort of disciplinary action is going to be taken to prevent such a thing as this from happening ever again. I will give it sometime before I ask again.

Former P.O.W. Makes Headlines Again

The U.S. Army soldier released in a prisoner swap in Afghanistan for five Taliban detainees, ended up in the middle of a pot raid last week. Bowe Bergdahl’s currently awaiting a possible court-martial on charges of desertion for abandoning his post in Afghanistan and for misbehavior before the enemy that endangered his unit.

According to the Anderson Valley Advertiser, Bergdahl was an “unexpected visitor” at a Mendocino County farm. Captain Greg Van Patten with the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said they detained  Bergdahl, but he was “determined not to be connected to the operation, at least there was no evidence to suggest he was involved.”

When they met Bergdahl, Van Patten said he identified himself while the sheriff’s office reached out to the Department of Defense. The agency confirmed Bergdahl was on leave, and asked for their help in getting him back.

Sheriff’s deputies later drove Bergdahl “to a halfway point,” near Santa Rosa, California, and returned to his duty station by military personnel.

“U.S. Army North was contacted by the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office on July 21 regarding an incident within their jurisdiction in which Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl was present,” Lt. Colonel Jason Shropshire told the Army Times.

An Article 32 investigation into his case’s scheduled to start September 17. The investigation is to decide if there’s enough evidence to merit a court-martial and is often compared to a civilian grand jury inquiry.

The desertion charge falls under Article 85 of the Uniformed Code of Military Justice, carrying a maximum punishment of five years confinement, reduction to the rank of E-1, forfeiture of all pay and allowances and a dishonorable discharge. The misbehavior charge falls under Article 99 of the UCMJ and carries a maximum punishment of confinement for life, reduction in rank to E-1, forfeiture of pay and allowances and a dishonorable discharge.

Bergdahl’s assigned to a desk job at Fort Sam Houston, when he should be locked up in the brig.

Reno City Hall’s New Flag

This is how far-left Nevada’s City of Reno has moved.  Instead of the American flag flying over city hall, somebody hoisted the Gay Pride flag in its stead.

11813420_10153232574078001_8959416117534823702_n

Both the mayor, Hillary Schieve, an ardent supporter of homosexual marriage — having lead an activist march through Reno and later attended a Gay Pride Parade in San Francisco — along with the city council have denied responsibility, apologized for the action and have since made certain the American flag’s returned to its rightful place.

“I was alerted tonight that the US flag was not flying over City Hall. I can most certainly see why people would be offended or upset. I did not order that the American flag be taken down. I have asked that the flag be put back immediately! It was certainly not the city’s intention to be disrespectful and never should have happened. I will take full responsibility since I represent this city. I have family members who have served and I know the importance of the ultimate sacrifice they have made for our country. I am very proud to be an American and we should always support our troops and veterans no matter what. I too am offended and there is no excuse for this. Those who have served deserve the highest respect for their service. My sincerest apologies!!!” Schieve wrote on Facebook.

Taking a personal position as an advocate for one thing or another is fine, but to disrespect the 98% of Renoite’s who don’t give a damn one way or the other about ‘who loves who’ is stepping way out-of-bounds since city hall’s funded by a majority of citizen who also value what the American flag represents — not only to Reno, but our nation.  Somebody needs to be fired.

This shit has to come to a stop!

Inspiration Well

Perhaps it’s because I spend six to eight hours, Monday through Friday, writing news commentary, that I’m having a hard time coming up with non-political material to write about for the weekends. After all, not everyone eats, sleeps and craps politics like I do and  you need something different to read from time to time.

For the past several weeks my ‘inspiration well’ has been dry. Oh, I know that there is something deep down at the bottom – my bucket jus’ doesn’t seem to reach it at the moment.

Worse yet is my so-called obsessive-compulsive disorder. I nearly freak out as bad at the thought of a day going by without a post to my blog as I do when I sit for an hour or more and find the page before me completely blank.

It’s not like getting up and checking  five, 10, 20 or 40 times every evening to see if the doors are really locked, nor is it the same as washing ones’ hands over and over all day, until they’re raw and chaffed. But it’s pretty damned close.

And so far they’ve yet to develop a medicine to cure this writer, who’s so uptight at times that seeing the abbreviation O-C-D, drives him nuts. I think it’s some sort of sick joke shrinks love to play on their patients.

They know good-and-well the effing letters are alphabetically out-of-order!

Fallen

It came as a hollow crash from someplace in the far-end of the house. I had been half-asleep and thought perhaps someone had pushed in our locked front door.

As I got up, I grabbed my flash light and unsheathed my K-BAR knife. But by the time I got to the hallway, my wife Mary had turned on the overhead light and loudly questioned, “What the hell was that?”

As I started down the hall towards the noise, our housemate popped her head out of her room and said in a loud whisper, “It sounded like it came from the front door.”

As quick as possible, I scanned the living room area for intruders, settling my flashlight’s beam on the front door. I found nothing, so I turned on the living room lights.

That’s when I discovered the source of the noise – out American flag, which leans in the corner behind the front door had fallen on the floor. It struck me odd that it would have fallen across the doorway instead of sliding down the wall before falling over.

After picking it up, tightly wrapping the flag around the pole, I propped it back into position against and slightly behind our Nevada state flag. By this time both Mary and Ka had returned to bed and headed down the hallway, turning all the lights off behind me.

As I slipped back between the sheets, I couldn’t help but wonder why it fell over like it did. It was mechanically incorrect and yet it had happened.

I was suddenly jarred fully wake as this thought slipped into my mind, “Did we jus’ get a sign about America’s future?”

The thought remained tangled in my dreams throughout the night and morning. I woke up feeling very tired and decided to go look at the flag and pole in the early morning sunshine.

This closer inspection brought about a new discovery: the screw holding the top corner rivet to the pole had broken. The head snapped off cleanly from the screw, allowing the flag’s eyelet to stay snagged on it.

I knew then that it was a sign to be taken seriously – not only is America about to fall, it’s going to do so because like “a fish that rots from the head down,” so is the Obama administration, from the top down.

McCain’s ‘War Hero’ Status

Recently, Donald Trump’s been accused of ‘attacking’ McCain, by claiming, “He’s not a war hero. He is a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

Trumps comment came after McCain claimed in a New Yorker article that Trump, “…fired up the crazies,” during a rally the GOP presidential candidate attended in McCain’s home state of Arizona. Conveniently though, many have forgotten how John McCain’s ‘war hero’ status has been misused over the years by those seeking to further their Progressive careers.

In his 2004 book, “Lies: And the Lying Liars Who Tell Them,” current Senator Al Franken describes a 1999 speech he gave to the White House News Photographers Association where he claims to have said the same thing as Trump.

“Hey, I like John McCain. And I really think he’s courageous. I mean, his stance on campaign finance reform and tobacco. Wow. That takes guts. But this whole ‘war hero’ thing — I don’t get it. I mean, as far as I’m concerned, he sat out the war. I mean, anyone can get captured! Am I wrong, but isn’t the idea to capture the other guy?”

Jump forward to an August 3, 2008 post in the’ DailyKos:’ “It’s time to take a good look at John McCain’s time in the Navy. My case is that McCain is not a hero at all, but an accidental bumbler with bad luck.”

Then there’s an April 10, 2008 post from the website ‘Jim Marrs:’ “I have never in my long life seen propaganda as blatant and untrue as the ceaseless barrage of lies proclaiming John McCain as a hero. Nothing could be farther from the truth.”

Finally, there’s the July 2008 ‘Democratic Underground’ post: “Of all the b——t in which McCain’s candidacy is grounded, none’s more offensive to me than the “war hero” crap. Actually, offensive doesn’t begin to capture it. Insane is more the word.”

Not only did future Senators and bloggers question McCain’s ‘hero’ status, so did then-presidential candidate and retired U.S. Army General Wesley Clark, who said, “Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.”

Clark also tossed his hat into the 2004 presidential race, where his rival, then-Senator John Kerry’s top national security adviser Rand Beers claimed that because McCain was in “isolation” during much of the Vietnam war, his national security experience is “sadly limited.”

Beers added that McCain’s limitations are reflected in “some of the ways he thinks about the ways in which US forces might be committed to conflicts around the world.”

Progressives only defend McCain when they can use him to further their agenda.

Secret Deals and a Bad Comparison

There are two secretive side-deals to the nuclear agreement with Iran that the Obama administration won’t be sharing with the U.S. people, our Congress or other nations.

One of them concerns inspection of Parchin Military Base, where Iran’s conducted several testing related to nuclear-warhead development. The other concerns how the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Iran will resolve issues on the regimes possible military use of nuclear materiels.

Neither of he the deal will be overseen by any organization other than Iran and the IAEA. It also means the two deals won’t be disclosed to Congress despite the requirements of the Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act, requiring the Obama administration to provide Congress with all documents, including all “annexes, appendices, codicils, side agreements, implementing materials, documents, and guidance, technical, or other understandings and any related agreements, whether entered into or implemented prior to the agreement or to be entered into or implemented in the future.”

It also means neither the Obama administration nor Congress will have a way of knowing whether Iran is complying with these ‘hidden’ agreements.

In July, Obama told the New York Time’s “You know, I have a lot of differences with Ronald Reagan, but where I completely admire him was his recognition that if you were able to verify an agreements that you would negotiate with the evil empire that was hellbent on our destruction and was a far greater existential threat to us than Iran will ever be.”

Obama’s nuclear treaty with Iran doesn’t even come close to being verifiable and worse, he didn’t even try to win the release of four Americans being held prisoner in Iran. However he did release a top Iranian scientist, arrested in California while attempting to acquire equipment for Iran’s military-nuclear programs, as part of the same flawed deal.

History confirms that Obama is no Ronald Reagan as trumpeted by the headline of the New York Times on January 21, 1981, “Reagan Takes Oath As 40th President; Promises an ‘Era of Renewal,’ followed by “Minutes Later, 52 Hostages in Iran Fly to Freedom after 444 Day Ordeal.”

Second Planned Parenthood Video Released

The Center for Medical Progress has released a second undercover video of a top doctor for Planned Parenthood haggling over the sale price of body parts from aborted babies. It comes a week after the release of a video showing Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the Senior Director, Medical Services at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, negotiating the price of selling baby body parts.

Shot in February at a restaurant in Pasadena, California, the video shows Dr. Mary Gatter, President of Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director’s Council discussing the price of ‘intact tissue.’

“Well, you know in negotiations the person who throws out the figure first is at a loss, right? So…” she said before finally giving a price of $75. When the actors portraying interested buyers say the price seems low she responds by saying “I was going to say $50.”

Eventually the “buyers” offer $100 which Gatter quickly accepts. However, by the lunch’s end, Gatter suggests $100 is not enough and concludes, “Let me just figure out what others are getting, and if this is in the ballpark, then it’s fine, if it’s still low, then we can bump it up. I want a Lamborghini.”

Meanwhile, Dr. Willie Parker, a Mississippi abortionist and former medical director for Planned Parenthood, is attacking the first “sting video” showing a Planned Parenthood Senior Director talking about trafficking aborted baby parts. Using what he claims is a “Christian perspective,” Parker compared Nucatola to Jesus.

“I’m thinking about a strong parallel between what’s happening to my colleague and the trial week of Jesus before he was crucified,” Parker began. “As he was marched from place to place, asked to answer allegations about, ‘You say you’re the King of the Jews. What do you say?’”

He added, “Many narratives said that Jesus simply did not respond.”

“As hard as it must be for my very spirited colleague who is very bright and who is very ethical and who is very noble to have to say nothing and have to defer to the organization that she works for to speak on her behalf,” he defended, “even if she could speak, I think the best thing for her to do is say nothing.”

For all of his so-called ‘Christian perspective,’ Parker never once mentioned the babies.

Obama’s Latest End Run

President Obama has bypassed both the U.S. Congress and our Constitution again, this time by submitting his Iran-U.S. deal to the United Nations Security Council before letting U.S. lawmakers review it. Of course, the anti-Israeli, anti-U.S. body approved the deal, 15 to zip.

“This is by far our strongest approach to insuring that Iran does not get a nuclear weapon,” Obama said. “There is broad international consensus around this issue — not just among the international community, but also among experts in nuclear proliferation.”

It’s obvious that Obama has learned from the past and has set about finding ways to avoid the failures of previous administrations. And he had help from Progressives in the Republican Party.

For example, the 1997 Kyoto Protocol; though President Bill Clinton signed the treaty, it was never ratified, defeated by Congress, 95-0. The protocols were found to contain language that would have severely damaged the U.S. economy.

When Congress passed the “Iran Nuclear Agreement Review Act (INARA,)” and Obama signed it into law in May, it was understood that Congress would have the final say. However, Obama exploited ‘a known flaw’ in the law, which states that the Act only applies to “statutory sanctions,” meaning those passed by Congress.

Proposed by Republican Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee and co-sponsored by and South Carolina senator and current GOP presidential candidate Lindsey Graham, the INARA lowered the threshold for passing the agreement. So, instead of requiring a two-thirds majority for approval in the Senate, the Iran deal would now need a simple majority for approval in both houses, and a two-thirds majority to reject the deal by overriding the president’s veto.

Congress would have 60 days to act once the deal was submitted by the President and if within that period, if both houses of Congress failed to enact a resolution of disapproval, the agreement would become legally binding, meaning that the sanctions Iran is living under would be lifted. So, given how the INARA is structured, it’s impossible that any Congressional override will succeed.

History also provides this lesson: In 1997, Clinton made an arms deal with North Korea without referring it to Congress, announcing at the time, “this is a good deal for the United States,” claiming North Korea will freeze and then dismantle its nuclear program.” By 2005, North Korea had the bomb.

Obama’s deal with Iran is so bad, both Israel and the Saudi’s are standing together to oppose it – and that’s saying something about how topsy-turvy our world’s become.

The Politically Incorrect Truth about the Radicalized Muslim

Last weeks deadly assault on two military recruiting facilities in Chattanooga, Tennessee, is but another in an alarming number of terror attacks in the U.S. committed by radicalized Muslims since September 11, 2001. In May of this year, two Muslim men opened fire outside of a “Draw Muhammad” art exhibit at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland, Texas, before being killed by a police officer at the scene.

In December 2014, the NYPD found itself targeted when a Muslim man who attended a mosque linked to terrorism and anti-police activity — murdered two officers in “retaliation” for the police killings of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. Two months earlier, four New York City police officers were attacked in broad daylight by a Muslim man armed with a hatchet, by a man known for frequenting ISIS/ISIL propaganda websites.

A Moore, Oklahoma woman was beheaded in Later September 2014 by a man who had converted to Islam. He was in the process of beheading another woman when an armed bystander shot and wounded him.

A Muslim man shot to death two men in Seattle and a man in New Jersey in April 2014, as “vengeance” for U.S. actions in the Mideast. The month prior, a man who had converted to Islam beat his lesbian daughter to death and shot her lover in Port Bolivar, Texas.

In August 2013, a Muslim convert went to a store on a “mission from Allah to help people” before he fatally stabbed a store employee 17 times. In April of the same year, the Boston Marathon went from a peaceful family event to a horror show as two Muslim brothers detonated two pressure cooker bombs killing three people.

Less than two weeks before that terror attack, a Muslim man walked into an Ashtabula, Ohio, church and fatally shot his father following an Easter service. And in February 2013, a Muslim man shot two Coptic Christians to death and beheaded them in Buena Vista, New Jersey.

A Muslim man gunned down a Christian convert who had widely denounced Islam in January 2012. He also killed his Christian son-in-law after his daughter married him without permission.

On September 11, 2011, three Jewish men were discovered in Waltham, Massachusetts, nearly decapitated. Authorities believed believe the Boston Marathon bombers may have been responsible for the triple homicide, though no charges have ever been filed.

In April 2011, a Muslim man shot his step-daughter in the head at point-blank range in Warren, Michigan, after she refused to strictly adhere to Muslim customs. A year later, a Muslim convert became angry that his family would not convert to Islam – and shot his mother, pregnant wife, infant son and two nieces in Marquette Park, Illinois.

In November 2009, a Muslim, parading as an Army Major opened fire on soldiers stationed at Fort Hood in Texas, killing 13 people and wounding more than 30 bystanders in an attack described by the Obama administration as “workplace violence.” Six-months later, a similar incident occurred when a Muslim man killed a U.S. soldier and wounded another in a drive-by attack on a recruiting office in Little Rock, Arkansas.

A Muslim man beheaded his estranged wife in February 2009, after she filed for divorce. Her body was found at the TV station he managed. Two months later, another Muslim man shot and killed his brother-in-law and another man after learning that they had patronized a strip club in Phoenix, Arizona.

A Muslim graduate student stabbed his non-Muslim Islamic studies professor to death in December 2009, to avenge “persecuted” Muslims. The month before, a Muslim man hit his daughter with his car, killing her because she had become “too Westernized.”

In July 2008, a Muslim man strangled his 25-year-old daughter in Jonesboro, Georgia, after she said she wanted out of an arranged marriage. Seven month earlier, on New Years Day, a Muslim man shot and killed his two daughters in Irving, Texas, because they were dating non-Muslim boys.

Two years prior in July, a Muslim Pakistani man shot six women, killing one, at the Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle building in Seattle, Washington. A month earlier a Muslim convert shot four co-workers, killing one, as well as a police officer at a Denver, Colorado, super market.

A Jewish man, who had gone to the movies, was shot and killed by a Muslim gunman in June 2006, because he was the ‘first available Infidel’ available. In April 2004, a Muslim man killed his wife by bludgeoning her on the head with a hammer and attacked his daughters with a knife, because he believed they’d been “sullied” by a gynecological exam.

A Jewish man was left to die by his Muslim doctor in early December 2003, and between February 2002 and October 2002, two snipers, both Muslim converts, killed 21 people in shooting spree that stretched from coast to coast. Finally, 19 Muslim men hijacked four planes in a coordinated attack on September 11, 2001 — killing 2,992 people, the majority being U.S. citizens.

This list doesn’t count the number of failed attacks made against American citizens, such as 2010’s ‘Times Square Bomber,’ or the 2003 “Brooklyn Bridge Plot.’ Nor does it take count foreign attacks like Benghazi, where four American’s died or the 2003 Riyadh, Saudi Arabia suicide bomb that killed 34, including eight Americans.

Too bad the U.S. government refuses to admit these are ‘terror attacks,’ or that there’s such a thing as a ‘radicalized Muslim.’

Active Shooter

“Can’t wait anymore,” U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Skip Wells said in a text message.

He was texting with his girlfriend Caroline Dove, excited that she had booked a flight to visit him in Chattanooga after being months apart.

“Yes you can honey,” she responded.

His next two words “ACTIVE SHOOTER.”

She thought he was kidding, replying, “You are so weird.”

Then silence.

A few hours later, she sent another: “Hon, I need you to answer me please.”

Her message remains unanswered.

No Answer

Late at night I sit up into the early morning hours.
The lights are off and I sit in darkness.
Quietly, I listen for the sounds not heard.

My father did the same and I would wonder “Why?”
The glow from the cherry of his cigarette fills my memory.
Dad’s breath heavy as he exhaled.
His sadness, loneliness, disappointments, each palpable.
Disconcerting for me at the time.

Now I sit in darkness, but I don’t ask “Why?”
There is no answer I’ve learned.
My sadness, loneliness, disappointments — palpable.
It’s very disconcerting.

I can’t help but wonder if can you feel it?

Rubbing Obama’s Face in His Racism

It’s very telling when America’s first and only Black president’s greeted by people waving the Confederate flag, a supposed symbol of racism in the U.S. The flags were on display as President Barack Obama arrived in Oklahoma City for an overnight stay.

Andrew Duncomb, who calls himself the “Black rebel,” organized the Confederate flag demonstration. He also put together a similar protest at the Oklahoma State Capitol — a day after South Carolina removed its contested flag from the State Capitol grounds.

Obama praised the lowering of the Confederate flag in South Carolina earlier this month when he tweeted, “South Carolina taking down the confederate flag – a signal of good will and healing, and a meaningful step towards a better future.”

Obama also challenged those who defend the flag as a symbol of their Southern heritage saying, “For many, black and white, that flag was a reminder of systemic oppression and racial subjugation,” he said. “We see that now.”

Before his arrival in OKC, a group of Confederate flag supporters were out in force near Durant. The group was visible from the interstate as they flew several Confederate flags from their trucks and vehicles.

“We’re not gonna stand down from our heritage. You know, this flag’s not racist. And I know a lot of people think it is, but it’s really not,” said Trey Johnson, who drove three hours from Texas to join the protest. “It’s just a southern thing, that’s it.”

Oklahoma state Democratic representative Emily Virgin tweeted her disappointment with the flag display, “I am so embarrassed about what I just saw on the local news. Waving the confederate flag at the first African-American president. Good lord.”

Then she tried to change the subject, tweeting five-minutes later: “That whole ‘attracting jobs to OKC” thing is a little harder when the president is greeted at his hotel by the confederate flag.”

Evidently, Virgin had no idea that Obama was in town to visit El Reno Federal Correctional Institution, a medium-security prison for male offenders near Oklahoma City, not to talk about jobs. She should’ve known this since Obama killed the Keystone Pipeline deal that would’ve brought hundred’s of jobs to her state.

Of course, most Americans know that Obama is long past worrying about jobs or our economy. After all, with only few months left in office, he still has to fulfill his biggest promise to Progressive voters — and that’s “fundamentally transforming the United States of America.”

What Obama and his ilk do not understand about the American people’s sense of self is we’re rebels not only in spirit, but in action. Don’t believe it? Go ask Great Britain.

Excusing That Which is Evil

An undercover video taken by the Center for Medical Progress shows Dr. Deborah Nucatola, the senior director of medical services at Planned Parenthood Federation of America, talking about selling body parts of babies after they’re aborted. In the video, she met with investigators posing as representatives from a “Fetal Tissue Procurement Company” for lunch on July 25 of last year.

“Every provider has had patients who want to donate their tissue and they absolutely want to accommodate them,” she began. “They just want to do it in a way that is not perceived as, ‘This clinic is selling tissue, this clinic is making money off of this.’”

“A lot of people are looking for hearts these days,” she said. “We’ve been very good at getting heart, lung, liver, because we know that, so I’m not gonna crush that part, I’m gonna basically crush below, I’m gonna crush above, and I’m gonna see if I can get it all intact.”

“I’d say a lot of people want liver,” she adds. “And for that reason, most providers will do this case under ultrasound guidance, so they’ll know where they’re putting their forceps.”

She also talks about pricing: “You know, I would throw a number out, and I would say it’s probably anywhere from $30 to $100 (per specimen) depending on the facility and what’s involved.”

Nucatola also described how partial-birth abortion procedures help keep the baby parts intact.

“And with the calvarium [the baby’s head], in general, some people will actually try to change the presentation so that it’s not vertex,” she continues. “So if you do it starting from the breech presentation, there’s dilation that happens as the case goes on, and often, the last step, you can evacuate an intact calvarium at the end.”

The video also shows a “tissue order form” from StemExpress.com which lists 40 different “organs and tissues” from unborn babies as old as 20 weeks for purchase, making that baby worth $1200 to $4,000 to Planned Parenthood. Meanwhile, Planned Parenthood, which bills itself as a “trusted health care provider,” has raked in $27,835,050 so far this year.

According to the US Criminal Code, the buying or selling human body parts is a federal felony while the commercial trafficking of body parts from an aborted baby is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $500,000. House Republicans have called for hearings into the issue.

“Planned Parenthood is actually allowed, is my understanding, for scientific research, to use fetal tissue and that is not illegal,” said Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky, an Illinois Democrat and member of the Congressional Pro-Choice Caucus and sponsor of many abortion-rights bills.

“Having talked to the leadership at Planned Parenthood, this was a sting operation,” she added.

California Congresswoman Barbara Lee, another prominent supporter of abortion rights and Democrat also dismissed the latest attacks against Planned Parenthood.

“They’ve been attacking Planned Parenthood for years,” she said. “They’ve been calling for investigations for years, and they surface videos and they come on the attack…and I think it’s outrageous.”

It’s truly evil that when a ‘fetuses’ heart and liver can sustain life outside the mother’s womb, it’s considered simply ‘viable tissue,’ while still in that womb.

Obama Seals His Legacy

Iran and the U.S. have reportedly reached a nuclear deal. The agreement’s seen as a major ‘victory’ for President Obama by his administration.

On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu didn’t hold back when reacting to the deal, calling it “an historic mistake for the world.”

“Far-reaching concessions have been made in all areas that were supposed to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons capability,” he explained. “In addition, Iran will receive hundreds of billions of dollars with which it can fuel its terror machine and its expansion and aggression throughout the Middle East and across the globe.”

Earlier, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest refused to answer whether the administration would agree to lift an embargo on conventional weapons sales to Iran as part of the deal, saying instead that any deal will trade relief from “sanctions applied due to (Iran’s) nuclear program” in exchange for Iran “taking steps” to draw down its nuclear program.

However, while speaking from the White House, Obama claimed the deal meets “every single one of the bottom lines” made in a tentative agreement struck earlier this year.

“Every pathway to a nuclear weapon is cut off,” Obama claimed. “This deal is not built on trust. It is built on verification.”

The deal also sets up a possible showdown between President Obama and Congress, where lawmakers could take issue with several provisions, including giving Iran leverage over inspections. The deal gives Iran an upper-hand in process.

The agreement requires the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to “ask Iran’s permission first,” after which Iran has 14 days to decide whether to grant it. If not, the IAEA would have another 10 days to make their decision about what to do next.

The set-up gives Iran 24 days to drag out the process. It also sets up a possible showdown between Obama and Congress, which has 60-days to review the agreement.

Congress would need two-thirds majorities in both the House and Senate to override the agreement. For his part, Obama has already threatened to veto any attempt to stop the deal.

This deal’s all about Obama’s legacy, at the price of danger, as the Doomsday Clock continues to tick forward with only three-minutes left before, “destroying our civilization with dangerous technologies of our own making,” according as The Bulletin of Atomic Scientists.

Bullets for Water

The Las Vegas Sun reports that the Bureau of Reclamation put out a bid in June for 41,600 rounds of hollow-point ammunition and 10,400 rounds of shotgun ammunition. But the bureau will not say why.

Anyone familiar with firearms, target shooting etc., knows you don’t purposely go to the range to train for accuracy using hollow points. Yes, they can be used for such — but generally cheaper full-metal jacket rounds are typically used for training.

Hollow points have one specific job — destroy the shooter, because they generate a larger diameter to inflict massive tissue damage and blood loss. The ammo is reportedly being paid for by revenues generated from utility companies that buy electricity from Hoover Dam.

“We want to limit the amount of information any bad guys might have about our protection capabilities,” explained spokeswoman Rose Davis, insisting that law enforcement officers are “there for the protection of employees, visitors and the dam.”

Davis did not, however, provide specific information about the number of armed official at the facility, but as of 2008 there were 21 officers policing the area for the bureau, according to a Department of Justice review. U.S. Congressman Mark Amodei of Nevada plans to further investigate the ammunition request and the size of law enforcement presence at the dam.

Amodei was one of 17 GOP congressmen to sponsor a bill that would have prevented certain agencies from using or purchasing weapons. The bill failed to pass.

The bureau, which works with the Department of Homeland Security to make sure the dam’s secure, has requested to purchase ammunition no fewer than 19 times since 2008, most recently making a large quantity demand in 2013. In addition to the bureau, which operates in Nevada out of its Boulder City office, the Las Vegas police department is also called upon to handle Hoover Dam security.

Hoover Dam’s most recent publicized threat was in 2012, when an unarmed man drove his truck past a security checkpoint, prompting an hour-long standoff with officials. In April 2014, Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his supporters faced off with the Bureau of Land Management after a federal judge authorized that agency to remove his cattle from public land.

In April it the Department of Homeland Security requested the purchase of 63 million rounds of ammo typically used in AR-15 semi-automatic rifles. The contract included 12.6 million rounds per year for five years.

Meanwhile, the Obama Administration’s cutting 40,000 military personnel from U.S. defense ranks over the next two-years – so no wonder people are suspicious.

America’s Greek Fiscal Future

“Uber, the world’s largest taxi company, owns no vehicles. Facebook, the world’s most popular media owner, creates no content. Alibaba, the most valuable retailer, has no inventory. And Airbnb, the world’s largest accommodation provider, owns no real estate,” writes Tom Goodwin, senior vice president of strategy and innovation at Havas Media.

“Something interesting is happening,” he adds.

While something of interest is happening to business via the Internet, none of it does much for the U.S.’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) or the U.S.’s mounting debt.

The percent of GDP debt hit its peak in 1945 and 1946, when it was 104 percent and 106 percent. In 1953, at the height of the factory economy, manufacturing accounted for more than 28 percent of America’s GDP.

Employment in manufacturing peaked in 1979, when nearly 20 million Americans worked in the sector. That figure had shrunk to 11 percent by 2009 with around only 12 million manufacturing jobs in the U.S.

The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimates that by the end of 2015 the U.S. government debt held by the public will be 74 percent of GDP. That’s higher than the 69 percent of GDP debt the U.S. government had in 1943.

Furthermore, the CBO projects the debt held by the public will increase to 103 percent GDP that by 2040. The projected increases are based in mandatory federal spending for entitlement programs including Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and Obamacare subsidies.

The current debt held by the public is someplace north $13 Trillion and the debt existing between the different government agencies is over $5 Trillion. That equals a debt of more than $18 Trillion.

Without the manufacturing of real products and the export of the same – the U.S. is soon to look like Greece – a nation sinking in a sea of red ink and relying on a bailout from other nations.

Memories of Moana

Recently, I visited my insurance agent, whose office is located in a building that used to house a country radio station I worked for back in the 90’s. While I cannot recall the stations call letters, I do remember the several times one or two of the windows in our offices were shattered by a foul-ball from the stadium across the street.

The memory got me to thinks and eventually researching some history of the place.

Moana Springs sits along a subterranean thermal belt which passes through eastern California and western Nevada. Located on the Haines Ranch, south of Reno, the property was purchased by Charles T. Short, Al North and John N. Evans n the summer of 1905 with the idea of putting up a resort.

Short had spent some time in the Hawaiian Islands in 1904 and had stayed at a resort by the name of Moana Springs, and that’s how the place got its name. Work on the bath house and the clubhouse got under way in August 1905 and opened on October 29, with a hotel opening a year or so later.

The Nevada Interurban Railway, a trolley line owned by Louis W. Berrum, began service to Moana from the Reno city limits southward along Plumas Street in October of 1907. Berrum eventually became a stockholder in the springs and well as owned an adjoining ranch.

The springs and trolley both shut down in 1911 following a disagreement between the partners, with Berrum finally buying out every one in early 1913. The acquisition meant that Moana Springs would stay in the Berrum family for the next forty-years.

Moana had a dance hall, a movie theater, baseball diamond, ice skating and boating facilities and a picnic grounds. The site was also the home of school parties, circus performances, rodeos, trap-shoots, baseball games and other sporting events.

Jim Jefferies trained at Moana Springs in the early summer months 1910 during for his attempt to regain his heavyweight boxing crown. Three years later, Jess Willard fought at the resort, two years before he became heavyweight champion of the world.

Following World War II Louis Berrum Jr. began promoting baseball, opening a new stadium in 1947 which hosted the Reno Oilers, Reno Silver Sox, Reno Blackjacks, Reno Padres, Reno Chukars and Reno Astros. Less than a decade later, the City of Reno purchased the property and in December 1957, the original buildings were demolished.

My son, Kyle was six or seven when he and his step-brother’s little league baseball team were publicly introduced before the start of a Silver Sox game. They handed out commemorative mini-baseball bats to all the kids that day – yeah – children with weapons.

The Triple-A Tucson Sidewinders, a farm team for the Arizona Diamondbacks, relocated to Reno in 2009 to become the Reno Aces. The Aces and the city built a new state-of-the-art stadium in downtown Reno, rendering Moana Stadium useless.

In 2011, plans were drawn up to demolish the stadium and nearby Moana Pool in order to build several public soccer fields and a new city pool and aquatics center. Parts of the stadium were auctioned off in April, 2012. The demolition was completed in July 2012.

In October 2012, the City of Reno voted to return Moana Park’s name to it original name of Moana Springs.

NYSE, United, WSJ Hit by ‘Glitches’

As Albert Einstein stated, “Coincidence is God’s way of remaining anonymous.”

All three outages came one after another: one of the nation’s biggest airlines, its largest financial news publication and its main stock exchange. But were they really ‘glitches’ or were they something more serious?

The New York Stock Exchange said their troubles were due to a technical issue – adding it was not the result of a cyber-breach.

“The issue we are experiencing is an internal technical issue and is not the result of a cyber-breach,” a statement said. “We chose to suspend trading on NYSE to avoid problems arising from our technical issue. NYSE-listed securities continue to trade unaffected on other market centers.”

In response, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said at an early afternoon press briefing: “There is no indication that malicious actors were involved.”

Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson also tried to allay fears, saying, “It appears from what we know at this stage that the malfunctions at United and at the stock exchange were not the result of any nefarious actor.”

He added, “We know less about the Wall Street Journal at this point except that their system is back up again as is the United Airline system.”

The Wall Street Journal’s homepage displayed an ‘Error 504’ message meaning it was suffering from a satellite-link outage. Prior to Wall Street’s problems, United put a hold on international flights for two hours due to what the airline later claimed to be “an issue with a router.”

Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland confronted FBI Director James Comey saying, “I don’t believe in coincidences. Is the FBI investigating these as breaches?”

“We’re not big believers in coincidence either,” Comey replied, “We’ve been in contact with all three companies to see what’s going on. We don’t see a connection to a cyber-breach or cyber-attack.”

But there’s at least one possibility missed among the various headlines. At 11:45 p.m., the night before the NYSE experienced a shutdown of trading; the hacker group Anonymous left a cryptic message on Twitter: “Wonder if tomorrow is going to be bad for Wall Street…we can only hope.”

Move along – nothing to see here.

Another Tumbleweed Moment

“From the motif in westerns where the wind blows tumbleweeds through the scene, usually to establish that the place is desolate or empty…a period of dead air or stony, unresponsive silence,” explains Wikipedia about a ‘tumbleweed moment.’

Documents have surfaced from October 2010 about a meeting between Lois Lerner, the Department of Justice and the FBI on how to develop the prosecution of targeted nonprofit organizations. Judicial Watch confirms the IRS gave the FBI 21 computer disks containing 1.25 million pages of information from more than 113,000 tax returns.

Lerner, a former IRS official, was at the center of past allegations that the agency had targeted conservative groups applying for 501(c)(4) nonprofit status. More than 6,000 Lerner emails thought to be lost were turned over to the Senate Finance Committee in April.

“One IRS prosecution would make an impact and they wouldn’t feel so comfortable doing the stuff,” Lerner said in a 2013 email.

The goal was to stop the flow of other conservative non-profits, opposed to President Obama’s agenda, from applying for tax exempt status and therefore becoming more effective. Congress launched a probe into the IRS in 2013 after the inspector general released a report saying officials had subjected conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status to additional scrutiny.

When Congress voted to find her in contempt and referred her to the DOJ for prosecution, the DOJ, refused to prosecute. We now know why.

As reported by Judicial Watch, the document from IRS Exempt Organizations Tax Law Specialist Siri Buller to Lerner referenced a meeting with the DOJ’s Criminal Division and the FBI about the “possible criminal prosecution of nonprofit organizations.”

Another document shows there were ideas from “Lois” on how the IRS could revoke or change “an organization’s exemption retroactively if it omitted or misstated a material fact or operated in a manner different from that originally presented.”

“We discussed the hypothetical situation of a section 501(c)(4) organization that declares itself exempt as a social welfare organization, but at the end of the taxable year has in fact functioned as a political organization,” the memo reveals.

Other documents states: “Lois stated that although we do not believe that organizations which are subject to a civil audit subsequently receive any type of immunity from a criminal investigation, she will refer them to individuals from CI who can better answer that question. She explained that we are legally required to separate the civil and criminal aspects of any examination and that while we do not have EO law experts in CI, our FIU agents are experienced in coordinating with CI.”

The documents also show how the Obama’s IRS developed plans to get a hold of documents forbidden under federal tax law. One email goes as far as showing there was a request asking that copies of employee statements to Congress be provided to the DOJ first: “If any of your clients have documents they are providing to Congress that you can (or would like to) provide to us before their testimony, we would be pleased to receive them.”

The Siege of Chicago

Between 4 p.m. Thursday, July 3, and 3:30 a.m. Monday, July 5, 82 people were shot on the streets of Chicago, with 14 dying. Even with a 30-percent increase in the number of police on the streets gun violence was out of hand, with one illegal handgun being confiscated per hour across the city during the same time period.

For the same period in 2014, there were 64 shootings, 69 nonfatal victims in those incidents and 15 slayings. In 2013, 12 people were killed and nearly 75 injured during the four-day holiday weekend. Independence Day fell on a Thursday last year.

Syracuse University’s track data on enforcement of federal gun laws in 2012 found that “out of 90 jurisdictions in the country, (Chicago) ranked 90th.” A 2011 Chicago police analysis found 90 percent of murder victims in the city are men, 76 percent of victims have prior arrest records, and the most common ages of killers are 17 and 18 years old.

Since the 70s, Chicago and its surrounding municipalities have taken a national lead in enacting firearms control legislation. Citizens’ groups like the Committee for Handgun Control, formed in 1973 and renamed Illinois Citizens for Handgun Control in 1982, have worked pass some of the nation’s toughest gun control laws.

In 1981 the suburb of Morton Grove became the first municipality in the U.S. to ban the sale, transportation, and ownership of handguns. In 1982, the city of Chicago instituted a similar a ban, barring civilians from possessing handguns except for those registered with the city before the enactment of the law.

The law also specified that handguns had to be re-registered every two years or owners would lose their handgun. In 1994, the law was amended to require annual re-registration.

Also in 1982, Mayor Jane Byrne and the city council began to hold hearings on an ordinance banning the sale and registration of handguns in Chicago. The ordinance passed making Chicago the first major U.S. city to enact a handgun ban.

Since the outset of the Chicago handgun ban, the percentage of Chicago murders committed with handguns has averaged about 40 percent higher than it was before the law took effect.

Soon other suburbs began passing gun control legislation. In the fall of 1982, Evanston banned handguns; Oak Park did the same in 1984 followed by Highland Park in 1989.

In June of 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Washington, D.C.’s handgun ban. Because of the decision, Chicago and the other municipalities came under pressure to change their laws.

Soon handgun bans were repealed in the suburbs of Wilmette, Morton Grove, Evanston, and Winnetka. However, the city of Chicago and Oak Park kept their laws in effect.

A map provided by the Chicago Sun-Times shows the majority of the shootings from this weekend happened in the Oak Park and Chicago area. The Sun-Times also ran a “deflection” story with the headline: “For its size, Milwaukee had an even more violent holiday weekend.”

Two years later, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled the handgun bans of Chicago and Oak Park to be unconstitutional. And a month later a new Chicago city ordinance took effect that allowed the possession of handguns, but with heavy restrictions.

Residents were required to get a Chicago Firearms Permit. To get the permit they had to complete a firearms training course, pass a background check including fingerprinting, and pay a $100 permit fee.

Furthermore, possession of firearms was permitted only inside a dwelling, not in a garage or on the outside grounds of the property. And only one gun at a time was allowed to be kept in a usable state.

That same July, Oak Park amended its ordinance to allow handgun possession in one’s home, leaving no remaining town in Illinois that completely banned handguns.

In 2013, Illinois enacted the Firearm Concealed Carry Act, which set up a permitting system for the concealed carry of firearms. Another provision of this law is state preemption for “the regulation, licensing, possession, and registration of handguns and ammunition for a handgun, and the transportation of any firearm and ammunition”.

This invalidated Chicago’s requirements for gun registration and for an additional permit for the possession of firearms.

Chicago City Council soon repealed the law requiring the registration of firearms and the law requiring a city issued firearm owners permit. They also changed the law to allow the carrying of firearms on the grounds of one’s property outside as well as inside the home.

So why don’t law-abiding Chicagoan’s shoot back at criminals? Simply put — fear.

Following the state’s 2013 passage of its concealed carry act, Chicago’s Police Chief Gary McCarthy threatened: “I don’t care if they’re licensed legal firearms — people who are not highly trained — putting guns in their hands is a recipe for disaster. So I’ll train our officers that there is a concealed carry law, but when somebody turns with a firearm in their hand the officer does not have an obligation to wait to get shot to return fire and we’re going to have tragedies as a result of that. I’m telling you right up front.”

Burned by Greece

“For six years the brainiacs at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the European Union have devised one bailout and debt restructuring scheme after another,” writes the Washington Time’s Stephen Moore. “None of them have worked.”

Let’s try and make sense of what’s happening in Greece and how it’ll affect the U.S.

Greece’s crisis began in late 2009 and is getting worse now that the country voted not to repay their creditors. More than 61-percent voted “no” on austerity measures and other overhauls that European and International Monetary Fund officials had demanded.

Despite ongoing financial struggles, Greece spent nearly 60 percent of its gross domestic product on government benefits and programs in 2013. Because of this, their private economy shrank as government bureaucracy and ‘handouts’ expanded.

The current ruling Syriza party see’s the rejection of creditors’ demands as a ‘win.’ The collaboration of Social Democrats, Democratic Socialists, Marxist–Leninist, and Maoist claim they can now press creditors for a ‘better’ bailout deal with fewer ‘painful’ fiscal measures and ‘more’ debt relief.

But it may prove a hard sell because it’s being seen as proof that Greece doesn’t want to repay its loans at all. And because of the recent ‘no’ vote, the IMF insists debt restructuring’s needed first to make Greece solvent again.

And the situation will get worse as Greece’s European Central Bank (ECB) bonds become due. Greece must repay a $3.9 billion bond held by the ECB on July 20, and another large ECB-held bond that falls due August 20.

Officials say how the ECB reacts to the bond default depends on if there is progress toward a financing agreement between Greece and other governments. If there is, then the ECB is likely to continue supporting Greece’s banks, but if the ECB cuts Greece off, the result is a run on Greek banks.

This is where the water gets muddy for those well versed in ‘social economics,’ but who have trouble balancing a simple checking account: The ‘run’ will affect Portugal, Italy and Spain (who are all in the same financial shape as Greece,) creating a ripple effect across Europe. Its predicted that this same ‘ripple’ will affect the U.S. equity markets first then the U.S. bond market, but the average American will hardly notice it – save for a “slight dip in their 401(K)’s.”

However, these same ‘social economists’ are willfully forgetting that with the Obama administration’s Federal welfare spending continuing to grow in both the private and corporate sectors, the U.S. is well on the road to joining Greece in financial ruin.

Where Sanctuary Trumps the Law

The man arrested for killing Kathryn Steinle, who was out for a stroll with her father along Pier 14 in San Francisco, is an illegal alien from Mexico who had been deported five times. San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr said Francisco Sanchez was arrested and has admitted to the woman’s murder.

ICE records show Sanchez, whose from Mexico, has been deported five times. San Francisco had him in custody earlier this year but didn’t notify Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) when they released him.

“(Department of Homeland Security) records indicate ICE lodged an immigration detainer on the subject at that time, requesting notification prior to his release so ICE officers could make arrangements to take custody. The detainer was not honored,” the agency said in a statement.

“His criminal history includes seven prior felony convictions, four involving narcotics charges,” their statement continued.

ICE had him in their custody briefly in March after he served his latest sentence for “felony re-entry,” but then turned him over to the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department on an outstanding drug warrant. At the time ICE asking that Sanchez be returned to ICE once the city was done with him.

Unfortunately they didn’t, because in 2013, city officials voted to give San Francisco sanctuary city status. The Federation for American Immigration Reform says sanctuary cities have policies in place to “bar any local official, including law enforcement officials, from asking people about their immigration status, reporting them to federal immigration authorities, or otherwise cooperating with or assisting federal immigration authorities.”

Meanwhile Republican presidential candidate and real estate mogul Donald Trump stood by his statement that many illegals from Mexico are criminals.
“And if you talk about it, it’s racist,” Trump said.

Trump first made his remarks during his June 16 presidential announcement: “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending the best…They’re bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime. They’re rapists…”

Since then, NBCUniversal, Univision, Macy’s, Serta, New York City and NASCAR among others are cutting ties with Trump. For his part, Trump is suing Univision for $500 million citing breach of contract and planning to take legal action against NBC for the same reason.

Meanwhile, the WaPo ran a headline the day after Steinle was killed, proclaiming, “Surprise! Donald Trump is wrong about immigrants and crime.”

Freaked by Fireworks

Though illegal in Nevada, it began about an hour after sundown, with a few “Lady Finger” firecrackers. The pop-pop-pop was slight and didn’t bother the dogs at all.

Soon the M-80’s burst onto the scene, literally. The multiple loud concussions caused the animals to nervously pace up and down the hallway.

Then it grew quite, save for the pop-pop-pop of another round of “Lady Fingers,” and a few ‘whistlers’ lit off somewhere in the distance. They were suddenly drowned out by the massive crescendo of a firework display blasting away at the Western evening sky.

Red, green, yellow, orange and white.

The dogs scrambled under our bed for safety, shaken by the “rockets red-glare,’ in the near-distance. I stepped out on the front porch to watch the show, hoping no wildfire would come of it and that the sheriff’s office might catch the culprits.

As I observed the noise-filled illuminations, my pulse quickened, my breathing grew shallow and rapid and sweat developed on my forehead and the palms of my hands. PTSD.

Then I heard the panicked scrambling of paw pads and claws raking the asphalt, drawing closer from where the fireworks lit up the night. Three canine shapes came dashing headlong around the corner and down our street, heads low, bushy tails tucked between their hind legs.

Only after they sprinted by, blending into the darkness at the east end of our street, did I realize the trio were a small pack of coyotes, scared witless, speeding for safety from the aerial blasts and bright lights.

Get Action

It’s been nearly three decades now since I was warned by my friend and mentor, Paul Steward (now passed) that I should be careful that I didn’t get so involved with technology that I forget to go outside and use my imagination. And to think that was long before today’s Internet, truly personal computers, smart-phones and digital TV.

But here I sit – involved in the very technology I was warned over.

Oddly, my life has always been about adventure, after all one of my favorite quotes is “Get action!” I read it at about the age of 12, the same ages as its author, Teddy Roosevelt wrote it in his journal.

One of the many ‘action’ jobs I had over the years was ‘Cowboying.’ My first few weeks were spent washing pots and pans and dishes, carrying out the garbage, slopping pigs, mopping the kitchen floor, mucking the horse shit out of the stalls, feeding and watering stock, cleaning the saddles and tack, washing the saddle blankets, and milking an old cow.

Not quite the idea of being a cowboy I had imagines as there was no romance in any of that. I ended up working long ass days – filthy, sweaty and smelling half-dead.

At the end of the day – long after daylight had left in many cases – the rest of hands used me as a target for their practical jokes. They put spiders in my boots, snakes in my bunk and laughed as I screamed, jumped in fright or ran across the room.

They even took to calling me “Sierra Tom” behind my back, thus my moniker on many of my Internet pages.

Eventually, after proving myself around the main house, I was given more important job, including hanging barbed wire fencing. This led to being trusted enough to hold down a few winter months overseeing some of the cattle that lived farther out from civilization.

All of this, I share so I can explain that whether I was washing and drying dishes or riding through the snow to aid a birthing cow, I was able to day-dream, using my imagination, inventing stories far more glamorous than the one I was living. I would later draw on those ‘romanticized’ versions to help me write detailed accounts of what really happened.

So in the end Paul was right – get outside, do something and don’t spend all day in front of the computer. Paul was about action too and was out and about when he was stuck by a car as he crossed the street one evening – it left him hospitalized for a long time, whereupon he eventually succumbed.

I’m shutting down the computer for the day and heading outdoors to ‘Get action.’

Facebook: Big Friend or Big Brother

The journal ‘Science’ published a report in May 2015 after “analyzing how 10.1 million of the most partisan American users on Facebook,” saying researchers found people’s networks of friends and the stories they see lean toward their ideological preferences. Then last month, the U.S. Supreme Court decreed homosexual marriage to be constitutional across all 50 states.

Shortly after the decision, more than 26 million people changed their Facebook profile pictures to a rainbow filter in support of homosexual marriage. While it seems like a lot, there are 1.44 billion monthly active users on Facebook globally, so it translates as about 1.8 percent of total users.

But the filter may have actually been Facebook’s way of performing psychological testing on users. Experts say that by setting up the tool, Facebook was able to get an insight on how to influence their users.

“This is probably a Facebook experiment!” wrote the MIT network scientist Cesar Hidalgo on Facebook. “The question is, how long will it take for people to change their profile pictures back to normal.”

Facebook has denied the claim: “This was not an experiment or test, but rather something that enables people to show their support of the LGBTQ community on Facebook.”

But Facebook has long been involved in research to better see how information spreads in a social network. For instance, in March 2013, the company published a study that looked at the factors that predicted support for marriage equality through its network.

Back in 2014, Facebook conducted psychological experiments on its users without their knowledge. The social media giant studied how different users’ moods and statuses reflected what they saw on their own news feed, even going so far as to cater specific content to users to find out how it would affect their own mood.

And if your Facebook friends suddenly debuts a patriotic American flag filter this weekend, it may not simply be they’re excited about the Independence Day holiday, rather it might be in response to all the rainbow flags. So remember, amid the social media onslaught for hearts and minds, as WaPo’s Peter Moskowitz writes, “…holding up a victory flag without acquiring the battle scars is an empty gesture at best.”

And it’s even emptier if the ‘gesture’ is actually part of a greater social media experiment.

Making Themselves into Gods

Speaking about the White House being lit up with gay-rainbow lights to celebrate the recent ruling on homosexual marriage, Reverend Franklin Graham said it was “outrageous” and a “slap in the face” to Americans who support traditional marriage.

“God is the one who gave the rainbow, and it was associated with His judgment,” Graham explained. “God sent a flood to wipe out the entire world because mankind had become so wicked and violent. One man, Noah, was found righteous and escaped God’s judgment with his family. The rainbow was a sign to Noah that God would not use the flood again to judge the world.”

The White House said in a statement, “Tonight, the White House was lit to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to progress and equality, here in America and around the world. The pride colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and tonight, these colors celebrate a new chapter in the history of American civil rights.”

Such arrogance comes with harsh consequences. In the Gospel of Luke, Jesus tells His Apostles what the world will be like when He returns.

“First He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation,” Jesus said. “And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.”

“Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all,” Jesus continued. “Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed.”

Graham also said the Supreme Court’s ruling poses a serious threat to traditional marriage, because “the gay and lesbian community…will want to keep coming and taking away the freedoms that we have.”

Meanwhile, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily blocked enforcement of a law that would have closed most Texas abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood and other abortion advocacy groups filed a lawsuit in 2013, claiming the passage of several safety regulations would have an adverse affect on facilities.

Chief Justice John Roberts, as well as Justices Samuel Alito, Antonin Scalia and Clarence Thomas all said they would’ve allowed the law to move forward. The regulations were to officially take effect July 1.

More and more man is becoming his own god as pointed out in Genesis: “…your eyes shall be opened, and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.”

Somewhere Under the Rainbow

Congratulations to the homosexual community for its same-sex marriage victory. But instead of equality and justice, the U.S Supreme Court has now mandated the polar opposite.

If anyone speak their views in public, they risk losing their jobs, persecution and marginalization as Justice Samuel Alito writes: “I assume that those who cling to old beliefs will be able to whisper their thoughts in the recesses of their homes, but if they repeat those views in public, they will risk being labeled as bigots and treated as such by governments, employers, and schools.”

By using the 14th amendment to bulldoze the 10th, Progressives have shredded the 1st amendment. So, while protections for clergy and worship appear intact, the Obama administration cannot be trusted to not sidestep the ruling or to ignore it entirely.

After all, religious liberty protections are less certain for faith-based charities, schools and hospitals that want to hire and fire based on religious beliefs.

For example, the New York Times’ Mark Oppenheimer is calling for tax exempt laws to be stripped from religious organizations: “Rather than try to rescue tax-exempt status for organizations that dissent from settled public policy on matters of race or sexuality, we need to take a more radical step. It’s time to abolish, or greatly diminish, their tax-exempt statuses.”

Unfortunately, much of the fight over same-sex marriage is about an underlying agenda – which is to ingrain central planning into every part of American society and especially the family, which has moved from multigenerational, to nuclear to broken in the past 100 years. This, along with Obamacare, net neutrality, Common Core, and ‘Agenda 21,’ same-sex marriage is another attempt to destroy the family unit.

Furthermore, Justice Anthony Kennedy’s opinion sets up the argument for ‘plural marriage,’ writing “the right to personal choice regarding marriage is inherent in the concept of individual autonomy,” as he compares the choice of one’s spouse to “choices concerning contraception” or procreation. Politico followed this by running an op-ed calling for the full legalization of polygamy.

“Now that we’ve defined that love and devotion and family isn’t driven by gender alone, why should it be limited to just two individuals?” writes Frederick DeBoer writes. “The most natural advance next for marriage lies in legalized polygamy…”

Forget about God-given liberties, welcome instead to the newest civil rights movement. And with all the calls for banning flags, statues, movies and even buildings, because of a ‘perceived hatred,’ is it any wonder that there’s fear the Bible will soon join that long list of items needing eradication because someone claims it’s filled with ‘hate speech?”

God’s wrath, it’s said, smells like sulfur.
